Bobcat sightings! The Madrones and Lilacs are in bloom, and the wrens and jays are swooping down on passersby—this year, both bird couples have chosen to nest right along the busiest footpaths. I take their presence right in the middle of our human living as a huge compliment.
And then there’s the quiet miracle of the people who’ve found their way up here—to help, to serve, to receive. Our little community is growing, taking root in such sweet and steady ways. It’s something I hold with deep gratitude.
I keep coming back to that Mary Oliver line:
“I am a bride married to amazement.”
It feels so true. Amazement and awe really are easily accessible medicines, completely free. And yet they ask for something we all seem to have less and less of: attention.
I hope to see you here soon, in this place where paying attention is our primary practice.
The miracles that rise from that simple act are countless.
And the freedom to attend to what matters most?
That feels to me like something worth fiercely protecting.
